A Silent Voice Movie Review/Thoughts

So I FINALLY watched the movie version of Koe no Katachi or A Silent Voice! I have waited so long for this, and it finally came out yesterday where I could watch it. Now I already did a review of the manga a while back so this might be kind of similar (probably not as long) so yeah might as well talk about this movie version of a manga I really loved! Here we go!

Alright, so yeah I finally watched this movie because it got uploaded somewhere I won’t say where but yesterday was the blu ray release and honestly I have been checking online everyday to find this movie to watch. I could never find it so I had to wait til May 17th and behold it got posted. So what did I think overall of the film? I loved it, I teared up a bit and I will buy it when it gets dubbed and released in America, if that happens at least. Now as much as I loved it and thought it was worth the late, I have complaints. The only complaints I got are of course because I read the manga. I actually wonder if I didn’t read the manga if I would have enjoyed the film more. There were times where things seemed rushed more than they were in the manga, with certain characters not getting developed as they were in the manga. Although that is one thing I loved about the film, they would show characters talk at times but not necessarily show the whole conversation then go into the ending of the conversation where you could assume what they were talking about. I don’t know, I thought it was a good way to cut some things from the manga but still have the context there, save time but still have it there. I don’t know if that makes sense, but just how certain scenes from the manga were cut shorter I thought was well done. There were a few moments that were completely cut from the original work which I get, that they couldn’t have everything in there because it would be too long. I understand why, but there was straight up a whole story arc cut from the film that I thought was kind of important with how events played out. I enjoyed both the movie and manga but of course I think the manga did things better but I still love this movie with the topics it covers with depression, bullying, and so forth. It’s a beautiful film, it truly is. I was actually surprised nothing much was changed in the film besides a story arc being cut, everything was the same, no situations played out differently. Oh the soundtrack! The music is amazing! I was surprised what song plays at the beginning because you usually don’t get music like that playing in an anime, I won’t say what but you’ll know what I’m talking about when/if you see the movie. It  worked though, I loved the music, I would definitely listen to the soundtrack while doing homework if I still had homework. Anyway, the animation was beautiful, the water at one point looked real, that was kind of funny. So yeah I loved the movie, not sure if I would have liked it more if I didn’t read the manga but it was a good adaptation and of course I teared up, it’s just relatable and a beautiful story. I recommend it definitely

That’s it for the review, I’m trying to keep these posts shorter for now on, but thanks for reading if you did and I’ll post again soon. I have another movie I watched that I want to talk about so that will probably be tomorrow, don’t hold me to that though! COUGH COUGH alright anyway thanks for reading and I hope you have a great day and goodbye for now!
